Through our Creative Collective we were talking to parents and grandparents who were aware of the problems being faced by schools, caused by the Lockdown restrictions. Teachers and pupils needed support in coping with ‘bubbles’, keeping minds and bodies active with creative ideas.

We don’t normally work in schools but in recognising the ‘knock-on’ effect of isolation and boredom on families, and then communities, we saw an opportunity to use the cards with two primary schools – one in Fenland, one in West Suffolk.

Year 5 & 6 pupils in both schools were invited to become penpals. The children were excited by the idea. Most of them had never posted or received anything so this was a totally new experience. And of course Teachers and Parents were happy too.

We also supported Penny Sobr to visit the schools to show them how the cards had been designed. Penny facilitated “make your own card” workshops which were a huge hit with both the young people and teachers.

You can see the results below in the Two Schools Gallery. Enjoy!
