Market Place is an Arts Council England Creative People and Places (CPP) funded programme which is designed to develop new ways of engaging more people in great arts experiences in areas of least engagement. Market Place is currently in the final year of its phase 1 programme supporting the seven market towns of Fenland and Forest Heath to bring creativity, fun and excitement to the region. As with all CPP programmes, Market Place is governed by a Consortium of organisations with Babylon ARTS (ADEC), based in Ely being the lead organisation. We have recently secured funding for phase 2 which will run from October 2018 for a further three years until 2021. For an overview of the current Market Place programme please go to: www.cppmarketplace.co.uk
Market Place has tested a range of ideas in its first three years which has resulted in projects as wide ranging as a music weekend in March, a heritage trail in Brandon and a kite festival in Newmarket. From January 2018 we are delivering an extension to Phase 1 to July 2018 for which the role of Creative Producer will support the creative development of:
A Celebration strand with events in Newmarket and Wisbech to bring together the themes that have been delivered by communities throughout Phase 1, representing the local voice and celebrating what has been achieved.
We are looking for an experienced Creative Producer who is committed to making a difference to the lives of people and communities through the arts and will strengthen the art of storytelling in Fenland and Forest Heath districts.
The freelance Creative Producer role will work with the Market Place team in Fenland and Forest Heath districts to make new connections with local communities, artists and delivery partners to deliver artistic commissions and engagement activities to achieve the Celebration strand’s artistic and audience development ambitions.
The Market Place team is led by Babylon ARTS Operations and Development Director, supported by Consortium partners and trustees and staff of Babylon ARTS (the lead organisation for Market Place).
