Last week Back to Ours hosted a Creative People and Places Gathering in Hull City of Culture. CPP organisations from across the country met to exchange ideas, and discuss the challenges and rewards, of working on arts engagement projects.
Meeting the team working on the Hull City of Culture festival programme gave us some exciting insights into what could be possible for 2018, and hearing from other CPP projects was an eye opening experience and has inspired for Phase 2.
We visited the photography exhibitions by Martin Parr and Olivia Arthur at the Humber Street Gallery, and the Turner Prize exhibition at the stunning Ferens Art Gallery. Hull has so much to offer we were sad to leave without seeing more.
The highlight of the meeting was finding out more about what other CPP projects have planned for the future. Along with Market Place other CPP organisations were recently awarded 3 years further funding by Arts Council England to continue their work. Congratulations to:
Super Slow Way – The Leeds and Liverpool Canal
Creative Black Country – The Black Country
CPP Hounslow – Hounslow
First Art – Ashfield, Bolsover, Mansfield and North-East Derbyshire
Revoluton Arts – Luton
