Talkin Bout My Generation – HLF Project

''

Introducing Talkin’Bout My Generation – capturing teenage musical memories from the 1960s, 70s and 80s in the Fens and the Brecks.

Were you a teenager in March, Wisbech, Mildenhall or Brandon in the 1960s, 70s or 80s? Did you go to see live bands? Were you a Mod, Rocker, Hippy, Punk or New Romantic? Where were the places to go in March, Wisbech, Mildenhall and Brandon?

Project co-ordinator Hilary Cox Condron and pop culture archivist Jess Johnston are looking for volunteers to gather teen memories and encourage local residents to tell their stories and dig out memorabilia. From stimulating memories though music, social media, photographs and pop-up memory cafes to training up young oral historians to interview their parents and grandparents, Hilary and Jess will create a Talking Bout My Generation archive. This rediscovered musical heritage will be publicly shared on the CCAN (Cambridgeshire Community Archive Network) website and an exhibition, film and publication will share the project’s findings.
