Wisbech Reads and Rose Fair

Wisbech Reads event

At the beginning of July we took part in Rose Fair in Wisbech, where we supported local schoolchildren with performing skills. Later in July we came back to Wisbech to participate in Wisbech Reads, a local initiative aimed at engaging children and young people in reading. Charlotte Diggines, a creative apprentice with 20Twenty Productions has shared with us her experience of the events:

Wisbech Reads: It was a lovely sunny day, buzzing with enthusiasm. The event was packed full of many different schools from around the area with a total of 1400 pupils! The children were very engaged with our fun and informative stall of colouring books consisting of puzzles, information and quizzes about famous books. It had a very positive effect and the teachers and parents were intrigued to find out more about Market Place and upcoming events.

Wisbech Rose Fair: The hottest day of the year certainly didn’t put people off from attending this colourful event! It attracted all ages and a great way to get the whole community involved. People loved the musicians we commissioned to perform, from local folk music to popular pop music performed by a local young and upcoming artist. The schools were fantastic, thoroughly enjoying the molly dancing tradition and the parents were so proud. People were happy to fill out questionnaires asking for more activities like this! A very special and heart-warming day indeed. - Charlotte
